Plastic water pump?

 Getting ready to install this water pump! 2010 a3 2lt, also on other Audi and Volkswagen models with a ccta 2l engine. Seems like more and more automotive components are being made of plastic, they say because of weight, could it be or possibly cost? hmmm, in any case they have made a bunch of updates from full plastic to this updated pump, half metal, lets see how long this one lasts?
